“Taste the Taco - A Lois and Marley Story” and the Let’s Just See Books series are children’s picture books I wrote, designed and illustrated. These books started out as a one book side project where I could improve my illustration skills and showcase my capabilities, but they became passion projects and great learning experiences.
Story was at the foundation for “Taste the Taco” and I created two unique characters to tell that story in a fun and engaging way that kids and adult readers would enjoy. With the four books in the Let’s Just See book series, I used a read-along rhythm technique, a repeatable catch-phase, and familiar animals/characters to help make reading time more memorable and fun. All the books were challenging projects that started from simple sketched ideas on paper. I was able to use my skills as a creative designer and illustrator to produce final printed books that can now be sent out into the world and experienced by adults and kids alike.
